Overview
The Surfcamp is the perfect compromise between meeting the locals and dedicating the coming days to His. You will become close to the locals, that's for sure, so everything is set in order to spend one week out of reality. But there is one point you have to be aware of: do not expect a comfy stay. There are mosquito nets. Your stay includes three local dishes a day together with mineral water, but doesn’t include extras such as the coldest fresh beers in the whole island in the downstairs fridge.
Waves
THE WAVES
Lences Left and Bintangs
Even if you will feel like they are on the other side of the world as they require an hour and fifteen minutes walk. You may be able to rent scooters if the road is in good condition. If you intend to go there, then be prepared: bring your suncream, water, and something to eat. The best is to take your lunch with you, but don’t bring anything valuable. Check out the beach breaks.
HTs
Hands down one of the best right-handers in the world. She’s the poster girl of Mentawai Surfing and countless surfers have had the barrel of their life here. Our camp is located on the beach directly in front of HTs, you can see the surf firing from your bedroom! HTs has two distinct sections: the “Office” at the top of the reef offering those ‘once-in-a-lifetime barrels’, and the “Surgeon’s Table” which has the finest barrel section you could ask for. In the right conditions, the wave links up all the way through – this is what we live for. HTs actually has many moods: from small fun barrels (just stand there and it throws over you) with nice little walls, through to gaping 6–8 ft down-the-line spitting pits. Suitable for intermediate to advanced surfers. Straight out front.
Lences Left
A world-class left-hander. A bit of a swell magnet and offshore in the opposite winds to HTs. Offers barrels and long wall sections. Lences Left is generally a bit more forgiving than HTs and is suitable for all levels when it’s small. Goofy footers froth on Lences Left! 20 min motorbike ride or 1 hr walk away.
Bintangs
Pumps on its day. A fun tubing right-hander that wedges/doubles up and wraps into the reef. When it’s smaller, it’s fun and suitable for all levels. Good option if HTs is side-shore from HT North. Located around the beach from Lences Left. 20 min motorbike ride or 1 hour walk away.
Cobras
A frame left located just up the reef from Lences Left. A really fun, unique wave that wedges into the reef, peaks up as an A-Frame, and runs left along the reef towards Lences Left. You can paddle in behind the peak for an awesome backdoor barrel before it spits you out over shallow reef. On the right conditions, Cobras can link up with Lences Left and offer a very long barrel! Paddle up to Cobras if Lences Left is crowded. Suitable for advanced surfers. 20 min motorbike ride or 1 hour walk.
Beaches
A 10 min motorbike ride away will take you to one of the funniest beach breaks ever! A picturesque horseshoe bay with white sand and aqua water fringed by coconut palms. Shifting sands and gutters can result in really fun peaky lefts and rights, perfect for all levels including beginners. The “on the quiet” spots.
There are a few other waves close by that are generally not surfed by charter boats and relatively unknown. These are our go-to spots if out the front is a bit crowded. For this reason, we don’t really want to share them openly here. Up our sleeve we’ve got a couple of rights, a couple of lefts, and a fun little A-frame with waves ranging from advanced surfers only to suitable for beginners. You will have to come see if you want to know more.

Package Itinerary
- We will greet you at Padang Airport according to your flight arrival and take you to the hotel to stay overnight before the ferry leaves the next morning.

FERRY SCHEDULE TO KATIET
Option I: Padang → Tuapejat – every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 6:00 AM
Option II: Padang → Sioban – every Sunday at 6:00 AM
RETURN: Tuapejat → Padang or Sioban → Padang
Tuapejat → Padang – every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 3:00 PM
Sioban → Padang – every Sunday at 3:00 PM
The fast ferry takes approximately 4–5 hours. - Get ready at 6:00 AM at the hotel and our staff will take you to the ferry.
- Upon arrival in Sipora, the staff and speedboat will be waiting to take you to the camp (about 30 minutes).
- Surfing during your entire stay.
- At 9:00 AM in the morning, get ready as transportation will take you back to Sipora to catch the ferry to Padang at 3:00 PM. Upon arrival at 6:00 PM, our staff will pick you up and take you to your hotel or the airport.
