Overview
INDO SATU is one of the newest vessels in the Mentawai Surf Charter fleet. She was 5 years in the making—a labor of love—and launched in 2015. Her layout and construction were inspired by the Indonesian “Phinisi” sailing ship, featuring exquisite woodwork craftsmanship using traditional methods. We believe she is the smartest-looking charter boat in the Mentawai Islands.
Boat Layout & Facilities
- Foredeck: shaded area for surf watching, relaxing, and dining with Bluetooth-enabled sound system
- Top Deck: sunshade area for hanging out, perfect for sunset beers
- Saloon: air-conditioned interior for movie watching, evening relaxation, and bad weather refuge; includes well-stocked beer/drink fridge and breakfast bar with coffee, tea, and snacks available day and night
- Stern area: additional hanging out space
Engine & Navigation
- Powered by 6-cylinder 285 HP Mitsubishi diesel engine, cruising at 8-9 knots
- 24/7 electricity provided by two generators
- Navigation & safety equipment includes satellite phone, HF & VHF radios, radar, GPS, sounder, 18-person liferaft, flares, life jackets, and fire extinguishers
- Crew are highly experienced and trained in first aid
