The Boat

Ombak Kabau is a purpose-built Mentawai surf charter vessel designed for comfort, safety, and true access to remote breaks. At the heart of the boat is a large open sun deck — a space for morning stretches and yoga, post-surf recovery, slow afternoons between sessions, and cold beers at sunset as the boat settles at anchor.

Spacious deck areas, relaxed living spaces, and reliable tenders for fast access to the waves make Ombak Kabau more than transport — it’s your floating base in the Mentawai Islands.

History of Ombak Kabau

Ombak Kabau was built in 2006 by “Edi Om”, one of the pioneers of the surf charter business in the Mentawai islands. Originally designed for Mentawai charters, the vessel received a new hull in 2019, and a full refurbishment of the entire boat in 2022.
